Churches in Birstall in association with Bishop St are making a set of giant nativity puppets. This is the story of their creation….
Each year in Birstall the Churches take an apple press into Riverside and Highcliffe primary schools as part of our celebration of harvest with the community. We make litres of juice with over 120 Year 5 children (that’s 9 and 10 year olds to you and me). This year the other activities we provided were all linked to the production of the puppets. They built up the hands with papier mache; finished the weaving of a brightly coloured robe and made a treasure trove of beads from recycled magazine pages – bling for the King (credit to Highcliffe teacher Mr Speddings for the title to this post!)
