Christians in Britain have a wonderful gateway to get to know Christians in China through the UK charity Friends of the Church in China.  Founded in 1984, Friends of the Church in China promotes contact, partnership and mutual understanding between Christians in both countries.  FCC is fully ecumenical and has close links with the China Christian Council.

The Chinese scrolls in this exhibition belong to the personal collection of the Revd Fran Rhys and Diane Allen, life members of Friends of the Church China.  Before becoming a Methodist minister, Fran worked on the China Desk of the (then)  Council of Churches for Britain and Ireland, where she edited the China Study Journal, led youth exchanges to China, and translated for the Archbishop of Canterbury when receiving visitors from The People’s Republic of China.  Diane was China Program Associate for 25 years with the General Board of Global Ministries, The United Methodist Church and now volunteers with FCC serving as vice-chair and editor of the bi-monthly FCC Update.
