This weekend Art Reach has organised an exhibition of art by refugee artists at Bishop Street. There is a mixture styles and media including painting, photography and digital arts. The exhibition will be up until Wednesday morning 28th August 2013

The following is from the Journeys Festival Press Release:

Journeys Festival brings refugees’ stories to City Festival.

A new, multi-art form celebration is to be hosted in the city’s Town Hall Square this August as part of Leicester’s new City Festival.

Journeys Festival – which runs from 11am to 5pm on Sunday 25th and Monday 26th August – has been created by ArtReach in response to the exciting talents of artist refugees coming to the UK.
From a special Festival Village in Town Hall Square, the Festival will include musicians, artists and performers, with a programme of activity suitable for all ages.
“Artists from all disciplines have sought sanctuary in this country, often bringing stories of extraordinary physical and emotional journeys,” David Hill, ArtReach Director
“Musicians, poets, painters, street performers, digital artists, photographers and moving image makers have arrived with amazing creative talent and widely diverse artistic forms.” Tom Green, Platforma Project Manager
Journeys Festival celebrates this diversity – and the remarkable, compelling and intriguing stories that Refugee Artists bring with them.
