A big thank you to everyone who was involved in our June creative worship service. Calming, thought provoking and beautiful…a great way to recharge and return our focus to the important things in life such as being ready and open to ways we can welcome and serve each other and our communities.
Lizzie Hartley from Leicester Street Pastors led a Lectia Divino session to help us creatively engage with the story of Zacchaeus which was followed by a choice of creative responses including weaving to give us space for personal reflection.
If you like the sound of this come along to our next Creative Worship Service at Bishop Street on Thursday 6th November 2014 from 7.30 to 8.30pm
Art at the Chapel would like to say a big thank you to all the artists who took part in making our recent Shape & Form exhibition such a great success. The wide range and high quality of the work was appreciated by many who came to visit and the exhibition received a lot of positive feedback.
“We all met at the Richard Attenborough Centre, now Embrace Arts. Some of the group have never exhibited before, so it was a new venture for them. Some of us are exhibiting in Leicester and the surrounding area on a regular basis. We are all amateur artists and enjoyed the challenge of putting on an exhibition. 2 or our regular tutors from Embrace Arts visited the exhibition and encouraged us to make it part of our future practice. Some of us are members of different Leicestershire Art groups, go to work shops at Embrace Arts and the Leicester Print Workshop and some of us have been on short painting holidays together.”Eileen Brooke
“We all have attended classes at Embrace Arts university of Leicester we a diverse lot and have taken many classes such as painting with different media, abstract art, drawing with pastel, oil paints, acrylics and collage. We have been on short courses over weekends and in vacations run by Embrace Many of us have been to history of arts lectures.” Hilary Nelson
The private view was well attended and had a great atmosphere as everyone enjoyed taking in the artwork and speaking to the artists. The photos below give a ‘virtual’ tour of the exhibition…Enjoy!
